Description
Recorded by Peter Ryder and Blanchland 4, this is a tapered slab of blue limestone. Dated to the fifteenth or possibly even the sixteenth century, "At the head is a small equal-armed cross with splayed terminals, above the black letter inscription “Robtiss Egylston”; below are a horn-and-baldric, a small bow-and-arrow, and a sword". It is thought that Robert and Thomas Eggleston were foresters for the abbot.
