Description
Carn Alw hill fort, this is taken form the southernmost rock outcrop overlooking the the level (habitation?) platform that is visible on the lower right with the grass and the top of the defensive wall running off to the right of the photo. But on lower left arching to the right, can be seen part of the broad, zone of 'chevaux-de-frise' on the south and southwest of the hillfort. The eastern side is rock outcrop so this defensive system would not be necessary here. Shame I didn't get proper photo of 'chevaux-de-frise' as it is very broad and large. Next time. In the shadow in the distance is Carn Goedog ( Bluestones quarry) one the sites for some of the stones found at SH, that is, if you're not a 'glacial erratics' fan!
