Menhir situated at 300 metres from Boy castle near the city of Mende.

Do you know what the circle markings are ? I saw many stones in France with large circles carved into them like this. Would it have been people marking them to perhaps break them into mill stones ?

Yes, captain, this menhir was destinated to become a mill stones. There are the same marks on Vidals menhir-statue (now presented at the entrance of Montpellier zoo)

Then it is good news that this menhir survived.

Seeing this makes me think the allegedly cup marked base to a cross shaft I saw last week HERE may have been for intended use as a millstone? Or a circular remnant of a dolmen stone.
