Description
Jaketown Museum---Belzoni, Ms.
The Jaketown Museum chronicles the Jaketown site located north of Belzoni on State Highway 7 from the Late Archaic Period (1750BC-500BC) through the period (500BC-1000AD). People lived at this site during these periods, as evidenced by the artifacts that have been found there. The museum displays the huts that these people lived in and by the artifacts show that they lived a very simple life. Samples of some of the tools hunter used to hunt the wild animals can be viewed, along with beautiful beads, gorgets, effigies that had been brought from great distances, since there are not stones native to the area. Address 116 West Jackson Street.
