Description
The boulder is hidden from sight by vegetation with only the top exposed to view when only a matter of yards away. Located in remote Norfolk on the verge of M.O.D. land, within the parish of the stone - used for target practice, so dont stray too far!
You may well soon hear machine guns or get spotted by regular surveillance aircraft patrols. It's position is just yards off the straight cross country Peddars Way, which is a long distance trackway that begins in Hunstanton, used by the Romans but considered to be far older in antiquity. Where the trackway was destined has been much conjectured, over the years - similarly to the Icknield Way, which it certainly joins. Others theorise it continued beyond Thetford via Ickworth to Stratford St.Mary on the border with Essex. The stone has got a folk tale associated with it. See next pic for further info.
