Description
Te Waikoropupu Springs are the legendary home and resting place of Huriawa, one of the three main taniwha (guardian spirits) of Aotearoa (New Zealand). Huriawa being both wise and brave, uses her mana to dive deep into land and sea to clear blocked waterways.

For hundreds of years Huriawa has cared for the waters of these springs aided only by her children but today, the Department of Conservation, a government department, has stepped in to help.
