Description
This is the Franks Casket, made entirely of whalebone. Whilst now reconstructed, with some parts having gone to other museums, it is a rare and wonderful piece of carving. The sign underneath tells me that it mixes Roman, Christian, Jewish and Germanic legends and has a mix of runic and Latin scripts.
