One of several barrows to be found on Winter Hill, the remains of the Winter Hill Cairn are situated close to the TV masts on the summit. Excavated by Mr C.E.P Rosser of Manchester University in 1958, carbon dating of pollen from the site indicates an age of around 1500 BC.

I like the purple hazy sky, and the way the rocks of the cairn seem to glisten. It reminds me of being up a Hag Hill Circle, very similar light.
