Cerrig y Gof

Also known as Cerrig Atgof, this unusual coastal tomb stands between Dinas Head and the Nevern River, at around 46m AOD. Affinities with tombs in Ireland and Scotland have been noted, and it has been suggested that architectural influences may have been transmitted along Irish Sea trade routes (Castleden, 1992). Daniel (1950) includes the tomb within his Irish Sea cultural province as a late innovation of the local Dyfed group. - Text adapted from the forthcoming book: The Architecture of Death: Neolithic Chambered Monuments of Wales by George Nash.
