Description
The dolmen has been excavated in 1802.
It made part of the set with the dolmen de la Pierre levée of Lezay, the round tumulus of Russel, the two tumuli of Sainte Soline and the big dolmen de la Pierre Pèse of Limalonges.
This dolmen has been moved or destroyed by the owner of the field before 1984 (when the two tumuis of Sainte Soline were excavated) to gain some few extra meters for his cultures.
This dolmen could be found between Vanzay and Messé, on the road D114. Coming from Vanzay towards Messé, it was on the right of the road.
When i tried to search it with an old map, i could see a very big stone (however not enough big to be a capstone) in a field. I thought it was one of the support stone and that it now serves as a boundary stone.
I didn't have the reaction to take a photo.
Happily, in the past, some people had the good idea to take pictures to make postcards!

Many thanks for this Rubis. It is good to have a pictorial record of this dolmen here, despite it having now been destroyed.
