It looked to me that there was Huts/settlement either side of the so-called defences, The more places i visit the more i think that in many cases the banks and ditches where of a ritual/symbolic nature and were only used as defences if they were been or about to be attacked, eg If attacked from the sea they'd all go the landward side of the defences and if attacked from the landward side they'd go

Description
It looked to me that there was Huts/settlement either side of the so-called defences, The more places i visit the more i think that in many cases the banks and ditches where of a ritual/symbolic nature and were only used as defences if they were been or about to be attacked, eg If attacked from the sea they'd all go the landward side of the defences and if attacked from the landward side they'd go to the seaward side of the defences to defend themselves from the attackers, This is from the inside looking out towards the land
