Description
A modern illustration of Pentre Ifan suggesting that the capstone was never meant to be completely covered by the cairn. The arrangement of the blocking stone remains as it is today demonstrating that the capstone had to be moved before the blocking stone could be removed to open the chamber. Taken from the on-site information board.

Archaeological evidence suggests that it was rebuilt three times. I consider it was used for the excarnation of four individuals over an extended period of time. I think at least one was a woman showing importance of women in these early societies. Cremation ashes of one of the individuals probably taken over to Knowth Ireland.
