Willerby Wold : Barrow "cemetery"

Several Barrows in the area: Willerby Wold " house" Brinze Age @ TA015763. difficult to see the 13.5m diam, 0.6m high mound due to ploughing damage. Primary burial of two skeletons in a pit, with a secondary pit burial of single skeleteon & a beaker. Evidence of a shallow ditch round the central area with traces of burning having taken place prior to the first burials. Four bronze flat axes have been found. Nearby : Willerby Wold Long Barrow Neolithic TA029761, another site difficult to see. ~40m long, 1.2m high 10.5 m wide @ east. Excavated in 19th centuary & in the 1960's. Radiocarbon dating 3000BC.
