Hi Aluta, All Thank you for your article ! Too many sites are going by the way of the bulldozer and the Log Skidder. In the 80's I did extensive photo documenting in NY NJ and CT VT . What is depicted in this article is typical of what i saw and the lack of recognition by " the powers that be " . I used to leave red flags and notes on top of stone piles, for the bulldozers to notice , if I had to leave a site . sometimes they would go around them if a residential wooded area . One site in southern ny a neighborhood was built in and around a site of significance . Working in the neighborhood, I explained the signifcance of what was around them . Logging also has cause extensive damage to some sites. Some day, when better equipped , i have quite a few photos to share . Been following this site since its inception and was glad to see the megalithic artifacts of the US being included, in that in many cases it is more subtle, yet significant , thereby being more likely to be destroyed by "progress" At significant risk are sites in Putnam Cty NY where suburban growth is a factor . There is deeper signifcance to all of this , as a dowser, developing over geo-nodes , isnt a good thing . The placement patterns can be recognized , as well as the surveyed placement / alignment over miles. There are rules and patterns followed and different placement types . I have a friend who as a surveyor, survey many sites inclusive to the Southern NY USA area . the patterns and rules emerge. There are some good books by Salvator Trento regarding the stones and this area of NY, NJ, PA, CT do a google .
