How can you say that this year was a great success? Each year there has been more and more trouble, more and more people who have no respect for the occasion, stones, land or even the people around them. Last year my young daughter was hurt as she was trampled upon by drunks, this year our pushchair, containing my 16 month old baby was tipped over by a drunk whilst we were still in the car park waiting for the stones to open at 2am! We had to leave straight away so that he could be properly checked over, he was thankfully fine- but can you imagine if our 6 Week-old baby had not still been in the car but already in the pushchair?! My daughter is now so terrified after witnessing all of this that the magic of the stones has all but dissappeared and been replaced by something altogether more sinister. It breaks my heart that we may never be able to walk amongst the stones again, they mean so much to me and my family, but I feel that they have been taken from us by those who care nothing for this beauty but everything for a selfish 'high'.
Many people that I spoke to after that night will also not be returning for many similar reasons- so if you are measuring this years success on heartbreak then the level will be very high indeed.
Sent with much love and Adalia's tears. x
