Re: Achievable Stonehenge by nicoladidsbury on Sunday, 12 February 2006

Andy's ideas on the restoration of Stonehenge make a lot of sense to me. I visited three years ago, with my two youngest children. I felt totally alienated from the stones. It was almost an horrible experience, and very expensive. I much prefer our less famous stone circles, because of the peace you can find at them.
My dream of Stonehenge would be to be able to walk across the moor towards the stones, listening to skylarks sing, and butterflies lift from the wild chalk land flowers. I want to be awestruck as I approach the stones, truly feeling their impact on my reality. I want to sit in peace and appreciate this place, to try an imagine how my ancestors may have felt. I want to be able to visit at sunrise and I want to be able to stay until sunset, on any day of the year.
Andy's interpretation of the options give me a glimpse of a reality I like.
I am such a dreamer and a bit of an optimist! :)
