Re: Castlerigg stone circle 'sanctuary' may have originally been timber by Andy B on Thursday, 16 May 2024

More about the festival:
Castlerigg Connections 2024 is all about exploring the connections that exist between the iconic, spectacular Castlerigg stone circle near Keswick, in the Lake District National Park World Heritage Site, and related stone circles and other megalithic, earthen and timber sites across Britain, Ireland and western Europe

Our 2024 programme is designed around the theme of Stones, Skies and Summits. We give opportunities for you to explore the fascinating stone circles and related sites - there are over 80 of them in Cumbria and the Lake District. We'll feature guided tours using your own (or public) transport, with experts on hand to show you the stones and their marvellous (and beautiful!) mountain and lakeland landscape contexts

We'll also have talks from experts on a variety of stone circles and the fascinating debates around their construction, use and meaning - both in the past - and for us today

Note: except for Festival guided tours, no Festival event or talk takes place at Castlerigg Stone Circle - the main base for all Festival events and talks is Crosthwaite Parish Room, Main Street, Keswick CA12 5NN.
