Re: Ablington Long Barrow by HarryTwenty on Monday, 25 March 2024

This is the same site as Lamborough Banks barrow, there is only a single long barrow at this site, the second barrow is 240m to the SE. See the map on the Historic England site page for details of the positions of both barrows:

historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1018168?section=official-list-entry

Also see p.108 of O.G.S. Crawford's book 'The Long Barrows of the Cotswolds' (1925) for the description of: Lamborough Banks (often described as "The Ablington Barrow"), where he states that it is wrongly marked on Witts' map.

O.G.S. Crawford's book is available on the internet archive.

Hope this clears up the confusion!
