My father used to take me and my siblings to this museum regularly - in the 1970s.
And sometimes climb the Mitchell tower, which was an adventure!
One of the best museums I’ve ever known. Superb exhibits, well chosen, and beautifully presented. I remember the Tibetan prayer wheel, the Chinese bound foot in formaldehyde, the opium smoking kit, the fantastic carved canoe with no metal nails, but all wooden butterfly joints, the life-sized outline of the blue whale on the ceiling. And so much more. Superb. We will not see it’s like again.
