I have cycled up the Petit Saint-Bernard a few times which is somewhat hard work. The last time at the top we (cycling group) sat in the middle of the Col du Petit Saint-Bernard Cromlech. One of the guys I was with said something about the circle of stones, knowing that I tended to get excited about these sorts of things but I largely ignored it as it looked like people had recently just arranged a few rocks in a circle. Little did I realise until I checked a few days later that it not a modern circle.
There site has a reasonable view of the summer solstice sunset:

Quite what they built the circle up there for I can barely fathom. It must have been a brutal ascent in the good olde days but a really fabulous location today. The cafe at the top is also very welcome. Overall, next time I'm there I'll take more interest.
Something is not right. This message is just to keep things from messing up down the road
