What a wonderful subject. And what excellent ideas form some of the above writers. I am hugely encouraged by the interest and passion that people have for Avebury - and it proves to me, without any doubt, that the many stones that do lie unearthed at this very ancient site will indeed be raised and reinstated.

I am able to discover such details as exact dates for places such as Avebury; therefore, if it could be taken in the spirit of fun and, maybe, even seriousness, I can offer an exact notation of the dates...
The stone circle and ditch were begun in 3, 858BC and completed in 3, 583BC - 275 years to build. By 2021BC the creators of Avebury had disappeared, in a similar fashion to the Mayans: for they did live in a very similar way. Who were they? They were an extremely war-like people, who, in other cultures, have been called the Tuatha De Danaan. These are fiery people who preceded the Celts and who treasured four powerful experiences of cosmic force which later became known as the Grail, the Staff - or Wand, the Sword - or Excalibur, and the Stone.
There are many things to say about them and about Avebury. One more thing - The alternating shapes of the Avebury stones were not meant to represent 'male' and 'female' energies, as some people believe. In fact those two shapes were meant to represent the two things that these control-freaky and unbelieveably intense people lived by, namely the dagger and the axe. For at the place called the Cove, countless sacrifices were done by them; for reasons that would take even more room to explain.
