Re: Backwardness of ancient Britain is myth, says Barry Cunliffe by hamish on Friday, 29 June 2001

I have always argued against the "Romans civilised the Britons".There was a highly developed and complex society already here when they arrived. The whole point of the Roman invasion was to destroy a threat to their empire, and they did just that by tearing out the political and spiritual heart of the island. The Celts did not use writing so consequently everthing was lost and forgotten, leaving only myths and nothing to help break the code.
Read the Celtic myths with new eyes and discover something wonderful.

Something is not right. This message is just to keep things from messing up down the road
