Re: Blarney Dolmen by Andy B on Wednesday, 04 March 2020

Hello Martin, Anne's note is talking about the Blarney Stone, not this dolmen.

However I think this dolmen is listed in the Irish Heritage list

In area of limestone outcropping, on demense of Blarney Castle (see 9642). Indicated on 1937 OS 6-inch map as 'Dolmen'. Described by de Breffny (1977, 54) as 'a picturesque pseudo-megalith'. Probably a rock formation of natural origin; landscaping of surrounding area, which added structures of 'romantic' appearence to existing rock outcrop, was much admired in 18th and 19th centuries. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

I'll change the site type
Thanks
