The topography of the ground mostly. The mounds stand out from the surrounding area and they're not naturally occurring. One of them is half robbed out and you can see it's not an old ash pile from a woodsman cottage, or whatever you think they might be.
Other than an archaeological survey, I'm not sure how you would normally go about classifying something like this, but I'd be interested if there were some guides or reading material to assist?
