My notes from a visit, 8th November 2018.
On this stormy November day it was not the easiest to get to, with several road closures in the region through flooding and trees down. When I finally got to the lane leading out to the stone, in places it was more like driving along a stream bed than a road!
When I got to the stone, I was expecting to see it from the lane, but it was hiding from me, so I parked up and got out in the rain for a better look. I found a side lane off to the south of the lane, guarded by a magnificent old oak tree with a wooden sign hanging on it, and various carved pumpkins etc positioned around; there had obviously been some sort of party hereabouts in recent times. I decided to carry on down the track, as I was doing no harm and there was nobody around to ask.
Further down the track and it opened up into a field, and there was the stone, standing proud over to the right, so I went for a quick wander around it in the rain. At the "front" face of the stone were masses of flowers, petals and other (natural) items laying around, there had obviously been some sort of ceremony carried out here a day or two before I got here. Lovely to see this stone used for such things, the multicoloured flower petals adding greatly to the place. However, it was raining pretty badly, so I didn't hang around too long!
Something is not right. This message is just to keep things from messing up down the road
