Class Stone circle - multiple-stone
Townland ARDGROOM OUTWARD
SMR No. CO102-006001-
Description On level moorland, at foot of Coomacloghare mountain, on N side of Beara peninsula. Circle consists of eleven stones, one now prostrate, another missing. Stones, including axial stone, are tall pillars 0.4m to 0.9m L, 0.25m to 0.3m T and 1.3m to 2.1m H. Internal measurement along main axis, aligned NNE-SSW is c. 7.25m. Stone lying on perimeter to NW, does not appear to be original part of circle. Standing stone (CO102-00602-) 6m to E. (O Nualláin 1984, 18, no. 21) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). Description On boggy moorland, at foot of Coomacloghane Mountain. Roughly rectangular slab (H 2.50m; 1.8m x 0.4m), long axis NE-SW. Stone circle (CO102-00601-) lies 6m to W.
