Re: Saxonbury Fort by steelbeard on Wednesday, 10 January 2018

10/01/2018.
Me and the missus went to Saxonbury Hillfort on this day and found it no problem (very close to Danegate Rd)
2 mins from where we parked the car is the tall 'phallic' tower of Saxonbury which i assume was built there to mark the summit of the hill where the 'hillfort' would have been.
The features of the ground are still quite prominent and you can imagine that it would have been a useful location to set up a defensive community of some sort as the views around the hill are quite impressive.
