I know this is an old thread, but I am new to the megalithic world and only recently read "Prehistoric Avebury" by Aubry Burl and learned of the buried stones. Absolutely fascinating and I totally agree with those that would love to see all the stones raised! As for the rest of the comments here, I can only paraphrase the great Rick James: "Acid is a hell of a drug!"
