Re: Heidelberg Hut by Anonymous on Wednesday, 22 March 2017

I have some informations to „Heidelberg Hut“ you submitted in September 2009.

1. This ancient hut is not called Heidelberg Hut. This ancient hut has no name.

The Heidelberger Hut (German: Heidelberger Hütte) is a mountain hut located in the Silvretta in the Swiss canton of Graubünden.
It lies at an altitude of 2,264 metres above sea level in the Val Fenga (German: Fimbatal) Latitude 46.909735 Longitude 10.259585
The hut was built between 1887 and 1889 by the Heidelberg division of the German Alpine Club (DAV),
which has operated it since. Since 1910, the hut has been a popular destination for winter sports as well. (Wikipedia)
Major expansions were finished in 1963 and again in 1979.

2007, a prehistoric ancestor of the mountain hut was excavated in close proximity to the Heidelberger Hut in the rear Fimbertal. This discovery provides the first direct, structural proof for the alpine-economic exploitation of the area during the 1st century BC. Fragments of prehistoric pottery proving this hut was used by farmers from Ramosch or Sent in summer as fixed residential and business centre. (Dr. Thomas Reitmaier)

2. Canton Aarau is wrong, it is situated in Canton Graubünden.

3. The co-ordinates are also wrong, because the ancient hut you can find close to Heidelberger Hut.
I couldn’t find out the exact co-ordinates of the ancient hut. Unfortunately there is no photo of the ancient hut.

Thanks
