It does seem to be an incredible age and I would have thought it a typo too. 6 million years is the age of the oldest hominids surely?
Just for interest - billions are not the same in Britain as they are in USA.
A billion is a million millions in Britain, Germany etc. but a billion is a thousand millions in USA, France etc.
So an American billionaire has only $1,000,000,000 whereas a British billionaire has £1,000,000,000,000. Confusing ain't it?
