Oct. 10 • Nightengale Archaeological Center Archaeology Fair and Open House
Discover how the original Hill Country inhabitants lived.
LCRA's Nightengale Archaeological Center includes a protected prehistoric archaeology site that is a State Antiquities Landmark and visitors can take a guided tour of the interpretive trail that winds through the protected area. Visitors to the center can
also check out the on-site museum featuring artifacts from the site's excavation and other related items.
Learn how native people made fire and processed food, and activities include learning how to throw a spear with an ancient device called an atlatl and how to "hunt" with rabbit sticks. Kids of all ages can show of their artistic skills in a "pebble painting" activity and sample tea indigenous people made from a native Texas plant that is the only source of caffeine in North America. Our experts will also identify artifacts that visitors bring to the center.
