If you were to calculate the actual error in each case, and express it as a percentage of the corresponding diameter, you could then find the average percentage error, and apply the result to the 2.72 figure. This would allow you to put an error bar on that figure - i.e 2.72 +/- X%. This might then have a bearing on the hypothesis that the ''megalithic yard'' is in fact an average man's pace, since you could compare the percentage variation (X) of the ''megalithic yard'' with the variation of paces in a typical population .
