I think that Dave is right. Be up front and obvious rather than furtive. Tell people what you are doing and they are helpful. Try unobstrusive candid shots and you are in trouble, but I love candid photography and can always spot posed ones. Photos without people can be really dull.. Someone recently told me that he couldn't sell shots with people in because the potential buyers wanted an assurance that everyone in the photos had given him permission to take the photos. Daft isn't it? What about crowd shots? 500 written model release forms for Trafalgar Square or Glastonbury?
