So very sad to hear of the death of Professor Mick Aston at the age of 66. He was a true gentleman. His knowledge of Celtic monasticism was quite remarkable, along with his passion for ancient churches and antiquities in the south-east of Wales and eleswhere in Britain was exceptional. But Mick will be remembered for bringing archaeologists and like-minded people together on Channel 4s Time Team. His great love of rainbow coloured jumpers made him a well-liked personality on television and, his unceasing love of archaeology was beyond all doubt. We have lost a great man, a gentle giant. R.I.P Mick Aston.
