Re: Wisht Maen, Devon Earth Mysteries Magazine by AngieLake on Friday, 14 June 2013

Thank you so much for scanning these for us all to share, Tracey. I am looking forward to a quiet rainy afternoon to sit here and read through all of them, once I've finished another project I've put off for a while.
The art work is lovely.

I still have a copy of our first contact in my Nymet area/ Celtic Sanctuary research files.
On 25th November 2005, Andy passed on to me and Peter Herring a message you posted up on Meg P drawing my attention to two little books ('Devon's Sacred Grove', and 'Crediton - The Crossing of the Lines'). You must have noticed I'd written about the Nymets on Copplestone Cross site page, and another person (Ken Taylor in Bristol) also asked around that time if I'd had time to check out the area, particularly Bow Henge.
As both sacred grove and henge were mentioned in your Wisht Maen mags I managed to get hold of a couple in Westcountry Studies library in Exeter, as you suggested, and photocopied your great 'A Sacred Bus Journey' article and Hugh Franklin's 'Signposts in Nymetland'. Also Andy Norfolk wrote a good piece on Nymets.
Andy Burnham wanted me to contact you then to see if you had any copies of those old articles that he could use, and now we have them!
At the time I was more interested in the henge than the Celtic Sanctuary, but over the past couple of years I've gathered more and more info on the latter. (Oh, I do have those two books now, one photocopied, and the Crediton one from the church as a 2nd edition was printed.)
I generally go out in Mid-Devon with Jackie, who was also one of our small dowsing group [which has since folded], who lives nearer our target area, but we haven't pinpointed THE site yet. However, looking for it has been quite enjoyable (if you like a challenge!)
'Needles and haystacks' are often mentioned!

Something is not right. This message is just to keep things from messing up down the road
