There are many misconceptions here so let me clear some of them out.
1. Publishing a book about Atlantis is not a way of making neither a name nor money. The topic is so anathema that it is almost a guaranteed career destroyer, why it takes extreme guts to publish a book like this. Furthermore, go to Amazon and check out the prices of Atlantis books. They typically sell for well under a dollar. Make money? Yeah, right...
2. The modern Anglo-Saxon idea of Atlantis is a modern myth, inspired by Donnelly, Blavatsky, and occult clarvoyant nonsense. When many dismiss this scientific study they do so because they are victims of that myth, and have not checked out what Atlantis really is about (Plato's dialogues Timaeus and Critias). Atlantis was not some utopian, peaceful advanced civilisation. It was a military empire that subdued other peoples, and eventually was defeated when they had attacked the entire Middle East (sounds familiar?).
3. Another common myth is that Stone Age man was primitive. In reality they were just as intelligent as we. (Atlanticists believe the Atlanteans were more advanced than we, while the rest of mankind was primitive. Many scholars erroneously believe in the myth that they were primitive, but dismiss Atlantis. All available data as well as logic suggests, though, that they were just as we, all of them, for tens of thousands of years.)
