I´m just a brazilian English teacher who loves Ireland, it´s culture and it´s people, despite the fact that I have never been there. I have plans to live in Dublin one day... The sense of preservation of ancient culture, preservation of historical memory, is something amazing to me, maybe because Brazilians don´t have a clear idea of where they´re from; it feels like we weren´t there before the 16th century! I just can´t understand how people could believe that 'progress' must be 'destruction'... Everybody knows that Dublin is growing fast, that Ireland left behind a past of troubles and misery to become the great Celtic Tiger... But it can´t be necessary to deny the Celtic roots, to forget all the glories of its past, to destroy Tara in the name of money! The mixture of beautiful green landscapes and the current lifestyle, the big modern city around the ancient river, these things mean to me a place I could call 'home'. The 'old' and the 'new'... These things must be in 'balance.
