St Kenelm was a Saxon King and Martyr - the Well dates from AD819 - the Well House was originally built c1549 and rebuilt/restored in 1887 -

I am fascinated by a Standing Stone immediately adjacent to the Well - it stands about 4ft high - strange that pastscape makes no mention of it - formed from Holey Stone (as my photo shows) - is this a pagan Well 'adopted' by the early Christians -
