This damaged Long Barrow is referred to in the Grinsell/Corcoran Gazetteer as GLO56 and on p 76 of BGAS 1960 Vol 79 (the O'Neil /Grinsell Schedule of Gloucestershire Long Barrows) but G.Witts refers to it as a Round Barrow (No 73) - it is orientated W-E and was thought to be originally about 45m long and 14m wide but has obviously suffered from the plough particularly on the E tail - it still stands tall however at just under 2m high and so is not easily missed even if you are driving down the A436 on the speed limit - the Barrow takes its name from Lineover Wood about 200m to the NW - mentioned in pastscape 117390 - parish Dowdeswell - position SO 99221856
If you care to stop there is a lay-by about 50m to the West but the traffic is hectic and the verges unstable - do take care
