Re: Vårkulma 14:2 by DrewParsons on Wednesday, 12 October 2011

There were 2 existing pages for this site, one called Vårkulma and another called Glaskulla although the coordinates were very approximate on both pages. In addition, the site photo on each page was for just the northern of the twin Gånggrift sites. To tidy things up and to post my new photos of both sites I have and amended the name of each of the original pages, one to Vårkulma 14:2 and the other to Vårkulma 14:1 which are their official names. I have added the common names for both too - as Vårkulma North Gånggrift + Glaskulla North Gånggrift; and Vårkulma South Gånggrift + Glaskulla South Gånggrift respectively. I have changed the names of the photos so the existing photos now attach to their correct sites too. If this sounds complicated I can assure you it was!!

I have also refined the coordinates for both pages and added the following details for this site: This page features Vårkulma 14:2 the northern of the twin passage graves at this location. It sits on a 14 metre diameter mound which is 0.8 metres high. The chamber measures 6 metres by 3 metres. Of the two remaining capstones one has fallen. Five orthostats can still be seen, and there are outlier stones which probably were capstones and passage orthostats at some stage. The site is within metres of its southern neighbour Vårkulma 14:1. To reach the site drive south from Falköping on highway 46 and at Kinnarp turn east towards Vårkulma. Approximately two kilometres past Vårkulma church the site is on the south (right) side of the road. There is a small parking area and a detailed sight sign with a 50 metre designated pathway through the crops to the site.
