Found an interesting stone in a ploughed field on Tuesday, when staying with friend in mid-Devon. Would love to have an expert look at it but unfortunately can't make it to Derbyshire this weekend.
(Not a polished axe, but a rather lovely v.pale-pinky-orangey hand sized, heavy, almost lozenge-shaped stone. Horizontal ridged grain on two faces, sides worked to a tapering point, with a flat base, so will stand upright on its own. Faces are 2" at widest point, and stone is 4" high, and sides 1.5" thick. Might be a quartz, and wondered if it was intended for a tool or something better.)
You've all worked so hard to make this a great success, and you deserve to have a great day. Hope the sun shines on you and look forward to hearing all about it next week.
