A Walk into the Past at Notter Tor, Sun 17 July 10.00–16.00 by Andy B on Saturday, 18 June 2011

Sun 17 July 10.00–16.00

A day to find out more about recent work at Notter Tor which has revealed the remains of a Neolithic Tor Enclosure, post medieval mining and historic woodland management remains. There will be a guided walk at 11.00, repeated at 2.00, lead by Cornwall Council Historic Environment Service and Natural England, exploring the sites and explaining the process of ongoing management to ensure their future preservation. Each walk will last around 2 hours and stout shoes/boots are recommended as the route to the top of the tor is steep and very uneven (so not suitable for the less able).

Back at the farmyard there will be demonstrations of traditional crafts such as willow work and rope making, with the opportunity to try some hands-on experience of these crafts. Meet the pedigree Dexter cattle who will be helping to manage the archaeological sites and have a look at the on-site willow beds. Sorry, no dogs (except guide dogs) as this is a working farm.
No cost for the event. Light lunches and teas available to buy. Please book.

Location: Treovis Cross Farm, Henwood, Liskeard PL14 5BW. Treovis Cross Farm is situated approximately half way between Launceston and Liskeard on the B3254. For more detailed directions please contact us. Sorry, no dogs (except guide dogs) as this is a working farm.
