To be fair, Worth's suggestion has not been entirely rejected. Against his conclusions are the remains of a boundary bank surrounding the circles suggesting a protective element for the circles. One would not expect this if the circles were purely for cremation purposes. However, as you say, neither of rings 1 and 2 have entrances one would normally associate with dwellings. Both were paved but only a small amount of charcoal was found between the paving slabs. However, the ground beneath the slabs does show discolouring due to heat which could be attributable to domestic burning or possibly funeral pyres. It is difficult to see why paving was laid over a place for funeral pyres unless for a change of usage. You pays your money......
