also, the jianhu lake you link to is incorrect - and on the other side of china completely.
the significance of the site in terms of prehistoric migrations is that it is directly south, and only sightly so, from a very significant and sudden bend in the upper yangtse (or jinshajiang) river.
the jianhu lake is named after jianchuan, which is located on the old road between dali and lijiang, at the turnoff to the famous shibaoshan buddhist grottoes which date from much later. (the new road passes further to the east, bypassing jianchuan.)
