Re: Bandirran by golux on Sunday, 27 June 2010

The above posts about there being two Bandirran circles ("Western" and "Eastern") are rather confusing. According to the OS map there is one circle (ruined) plus a single standing stone outlier due east of the circle. According to my personal observations in 2010 this is correct.

As the "Eastern Bandirran" photos by Nick show, the outlier stands close to a recumbent stone and together they may have made a pair of outliers to the circle. The photos by Hamish claim to show a third upright stone on the eastern site but there is no trace of this within 100 yards of the large standing outlier. I suspect that Hamish's photo of the "third stone" is in fact a photo of the east face (the opposite side from the recumbent stone) of the large outlier.

Has anybody got any information to suggest there is or was a third stone?
