Re: Conservation of the Côa Valley rock art outcrops by Condros on Thursday, 06 May 2010

To walk this site is more like walking back in time, although I never got to see the petroglyphs here. Citania de Briteiros was more than I expected, my Celtic soul grew wings here, my first large Castro, to be followed by Citania de Sanfins, and the Meseu Sarmento in Guimaraes, and onto Lansbricae (San Cibran de Las) , and Castro Santa Tegra in Galicia.
Somewhat alarmed at some castros lack of attention by local government's, especially in Galicia, I was told it's against their policy to help keep a site clean of debris, and that even volunteers would be discouraged at the site. while others merely allowed initial excavation, and than abandonement and allowed to self destruct. while some farmer's actually wanted to bulldoze these ancient monuments down.
The youth of Galicia, and those in Northern Portugal are the ones holding the cultural heritage intact, while the elderly and cosmopolitan crowd couldn't care less.

Something is not right. This message is just to keep things from messing up down the road
