I believe the method suggested for moving the stones is the most likely way, I have moved logs in our woodyard using this method. Our "Stonehenge" is the four natural peaks of Stoney Stanton, Sapcote,Croft,and Huncote, alas only half of Croft hill remains in south west Leicestershire the others live on as the final dressing on the motorways. Our neolithic settlements used portable standing stones etc, a more practible solution.Arthur, Burbage,Leicestershire.
