Re: Milton of Whitehouse by Anonymous on Wednesday, 17 November 2004

This souterrain is in an enclosed part of fallow ground , a short way from the farm of Milton Of Whitehouse. It is extremely denuded, however all the elements of the souterrain are clearly seen. The south parts of the structure are represented by their foundation courses only, the northern parts are better preserved and part of the walling still stands 1.20m high. The length of the structure from the passage entrance to the terminal bulge is just under 10 metres, and the maximum width is 1.70m. This makes it one of the smallest souterrains discovered. I will post a photo of the site as soon as my scanners working. Steven Doig ([email protected])
