11 individuals seems reasonably representative to me given the paucity of remains from this period. How about parallels between Homo Antecessor and modern apes?
I believe that a new dominant male in certain Chimpanzee groups have been recorded as wiping out the offspring of the previous dominant male. I don't know if there are any instances of these dead apes being cannibalized but it does not seem to be too great a leap of imagination to believe that they may also have been eaten.
