James Dyer's wonderful books on Stopsley are a treasure and a tribute to our village life and a very important record of what village life was like through the ages up to present day, especially since the heart of Stopsley and the beautiful surrounding woods and green belt has been practically destroyed starting in the 60's by 'progress'.
Although we have long moved away from the area I was born in Stopsley in 1952, my brother and I remember Mr Dyer well, and my parents were both from Luton families, Holdstock/Blaxill, and lived in Stopsley from 1950.
I was thrilled to find my own 10 year old face peaking out of one of the school photos, and I often take a look at the books and always learn something new and extremely interesting.
